The Social Work Department is looking for funding for their Trauma Education trips led by trained faculty and students. These trips take place throughout the year to various locations where traumatic events have taken place and where mental health support may not be easily accessed. Within these trips, the Social Work department delivers introductory trauma education to individuals while providing intentional, research-based ideas with sensory-related tools to encourage healing. Workshops and individual consultation are provided to trauma survivors but also community leaders, teachers, pastors and first responders who will then continue to use and teach supplied skills. In addition, the teams provide interactive, child-specific educational and sensory-focused workshops and groups to promote healing for children who are the victims of trauma. Knowing that trauma transcends culture and language, interventions are designed to cut across human experience.
